A few months ago, I posted about an inventive way of using a ternary colour scheme to visualize the heterogeneity in population ageing across Europe. The work was done by Ilya Kashnitsky and Jonas Schöley, who gently shared the R code to reproduce this kind of dataviz.
This is also a great technique to visualize how transport mode share varies across different neighborhoods of a city. This chart below was created by Ignacio Pérez and it shows the mode split of different communes in Santiago (Chile).
